Wow! I was on the phone talking to an HR consultant about two different positions I have been offered. It's been a rough few months as I resigned a position and have been searching for a new one, trying to make sure it is the right fit. I was pleasantly surprised by the doorbell ringing (which I couldn't answer, unfortunately, being on the phone), and my son found a plate of cookies and the card. I would like to say, that the PIF program is a Great way to show the example of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He showed us the Truth and the Way to Heaven. To Love One Another as we Love ourselve and the same as we Love our God with all our Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength. God sent his son to save us and be our servant, the least we can do is share the example and Pay It Forward. I committ to shovel or snowblow my neighbors sidewalk and always let those with fewer items go ahead in grocery line. I have even taken a young man I mentor to the movies and dinner. God has blessed me with the time and ability to do these acts of kindness and I pray that the PIF experience will continue for many individuals.

I have been looking for an opportunity to "pay it forward, and today while I was pumping gas this sweet older man asked me what the price of gas was. I told him, and we both proceeded to pump our gas. I was done first and went in to pay. A women came in counting her nickels and dimes to put $4 in her empty gas tank. We instead had her keep her change and gave her $20 in free gas. Half of what we were given was passed on to another youth ministry organization in Holland. The snow plow had come by my house and left a huge, hard heavy drift in my driveway. I had to park on the street. I was struggling to shovel it away and my beautiful neighbor walked over with his snowblower and finished it for me. It was an amazing gesture and certainly made my day. My 5th grade class has been studying character traits. When I heard about this idea, I thought it would tie into the traits of generosity and compassion perfectly! I told students about PIF and asked if anyone was interested in getting a card. All their hands shot into the air. This week, I had them write down what they did to "pay it forward". Here's some of what they did: -made breakfast for dad without being asked -helped a 93-year-old woman to seat without being asked -helped a blind woman get onto a bus -helped mom carry in groceries; helped neighbors carry out a big trash bag -mom took friend out for dinner -gave a man gas money -helped mom clean up her shop and cleaned own room without being asked -helped get some groceries for neighbors -helped brother clean room -went and bought grandmom some milk

We had no clue about the Pay it Forward. So here I was at Crown not in a very good mood, Felt rushed, just one of those days where things did not settle right, Sitting waiting for my car to finish getting an oil change done. Got called because my car was finished, Lady at the checkout, Stated there was a Pay it forward for me, not understanding, I had many questions, the lady was extremely nice, she took time to explain everything, a Pay it forward for $25 on my oil change and I had a $5 coupon which made my visit free. I was speechless, My complete mood changed , What a wonderful act of kindness someone did for us, My husband and I are so excited to pick a place and return that favor to someone else. The Holland Rescue Mission was recipients of the donated funds from Ramona Scott to share with individuals in Holland. The Family Hope Ministry Center has given the $25 shared with us to the ladies in our Discipleship Program to enjoy a shopping trip at the WAR Chest Boutique located at 119 Courtland Street in Rockford. The WAR Chest Boutique is a non-profit store-front operated by Women At Risk, International, giving people a permanent location to shop the jewelry and fine gifts made by the precious rescued and at-risk women who flow through their programs. Thus, with Mrs. Scott's generous gift, we were able to create a fun evening for some of the homeless women residing at the Holland Rescue Mission, as well as to provide funding to women rescued from human trafficking. Thank you for "Paying It Forward" and for letting us be a part of it.

I work at Michigan Commerce Bank and for the past few months we have had the opportunity to wear jeans on Fridays for a donation to different causes each month. This month we decided that instead of a donation to charity we would use the "Pay It Forward" campaign that the city has started. If we wear jeans we get a card to do random acts of kindness to others around us. My card is going to be used to help out a friend who has been going through a very hard time. She needed an oil change in her van but couldn't pay for it. My son checked her oil and filled it for her. I will now use my Pay It Forward card to get her a real oil change. You don't have to spend any money, my son did his own pay it forward just by helping her out whenever she needs it. Keep it going Holland and we will eventually effect the world!

I purchased 4 student tickets plus my adult ticket thinking we would have a carful of gals going. It turned out that the 10:00 showing that I reserved just didn't work out for most of them. I ended up with 2 extra tickets that, rather than trying to sell at the door myself, I left them with the ticket sales desk instructing them to give them to the next couple of students that needed to purchase tickets. A young neighbor named Tiffany knocked on our door and said she knew that we had a young son and thought he might like some toys and she wanted to pay it forward by giving us a few items for him. When my husband went to the door I knew she had come by last year when we first moved in a brought us a tray of cookies. Now she was giving us $10 with a note that said to Pay it Forward and a lovely hand written card and a few toys for our 3 1/2 year old son. I have to say that since we moved to Holland 16 months ago I have had at least one to two dozen strangers/neighbors in my local area come by and bring items to our family and it has been a real blessing. I want to thank Tiffany for reminding us that we are lucky to live in such a great community and even though my husband and I are still unemployed and hope to find jobs here soon, we are blessed more than most and grateful for the reminder from Tiffany about Paying it Forward to some other person in the community who may need their spirits lifted or could use a break by us doing a random act of kindness for them. As I was mowing my neighbor's lawn, I saw a green minivan stop in the road. An older couple had ran out of gas in front of the house. They asked me if I had any gasoline and, without even thinking, I ran home, grabbed my last container of gasoline, brought it over, and emptied it into their tank. We first sang You are My Sunshine & delivered single gerbera daisy flowers to all at the Secretary of State's office . Then we visited the new Simpatico free trade coffee business on Lincoln Ave. We bought some coffee for ourselves and then we made two stops along the byways to give coffee to complete strangers, one man mowing his field and a security officer in Saugatuck later. Then we shopped with $2 each given us at a Dollar Store and hardware for items listed to donate....at our next stop at the Children's Museum in Fennville. A fabulous Lunch followed at the Fennville Railroad Station dining coach filled with historic memorabilia and music. In Saugatuck we were treated to our choice of gelato flavors. Back in Holland we stopped at the post office and went in to share our supply of Hershey chocolate "hugs" with patrons and staff. With some left we approached those on the street outside filling everyone with laughter. Last stop was the farmers market locale on 8th St. where we used chalk art to display happy notes and surprise today's patrons. What a hoot it all was! Why we're happy to live at FV.

WOW! I was ready to pay for my ticket to the "Marvelous Wonderettes" show(just saw "Forever Plaid" the night before) both outstanding and FUN shows presented by the award winning Holland High Theatre Dept...and this smiling face at the ticket window gave me my ticket(front row seat) and the PIF card and said your ticket has been covered! Several years ago my child's 4th grade teacher began a little project with some of his kids after seeing an elderly woman who lives near the school, shoveling her driveway. A selected group of kids (who expressed sincere interest and volunteered) go out with the teacher during what would normally be their recess and shovel this woman's driveway, working in pairs, so they don't get too tired. My child said that the teacher bought another shovel this year because he had more students volunteer than he normally does. In this super fast technotronic age of me, me, me and want, want, want, I think it's outstading he is putting on the brakes, slowing things down a bit and teaching them a life lesson on compassion and caring for others, and a sense of selflessness. Though it's a small token of appreciation, I wanted to show our gratitude and pay his generosity forward. He was given a coupon for food at a local eatery. And if you're reading this, teacher of my child, we thank you again! :D

My family was out a few weeks ago debating on where to go for dinner after passing Pizza Hut, BK, Arby's and Brann's our 4 year old said she wanted soup and our 2 year old said pizza. So we turned around and went to Pizza Hut. Our girls were getting rambunxious so we decided to get the rest of our meal to go and asked for togo boxes, cups and a bill. She came back and said. "Great news all around, we found a container for the soup, heres your box, and your bill has been taken care of...all I can say is Pay it Forward. My husband and I were in complete shock, we asked who paid for our meal and she just looked to a spot where no one was sitting anymore. It was amazing.I was so thankful because money was a little tight. I kept forgetting to fill this out but now that I have I cant wait to pass it on to someone else....Im thinking a gas card, or, Meijer gift card...hopefully the next person shares thier experience here.

Well I received this card a long long time ago, in fact probably a year. I unfortunately was thinking in huge thoughts rather than small things so it took a while for me to follow through. :( I received a $15 gift card to Wal-Mart. It came at an essential time for me. I was having to change my house door locks for the second time in a couple months. I was running out of light bulbs and needed them badly for the outside of my house because me and my children's safety at the time was a big concern. So the gift card was very helpful and exactly what I needed. As it appears by my above statement money was not something I could give back and that's why it's been difficult for me to find something significant to help someone with. But, I finally found something... I met this really great, big-hearted, and caring man. We have become pretty good friends and I had a pretty good idea about all the struggles he's facing in his and his family's life. His brother passed away a couple weeks ago. It was a suicide and therefore unexpected. He had no insurance or extra money. My friend is the family go-to guy and therefore had to take responsibility for everything. From planning the service, to burial, to paying for it all financially. He already has so much going on without this extra work let alone the pain he was going through along side of things. So, I took care of finding a church, Pastor to hold a service, and I planned the memorial luncheon to follow the service. I used his friends as resources so there was no cost for food. The church was given to me and my pastor for free usage because it's a shared church in our denomination. So my friend had a few less things to worry about and a lot less money to spend! I have no doubt in my mind that he appreciated everything we did for him. And I believe he will enjoy paying it forward! Thanks for reading my story. :)

A couple of months ago, I put an ad on Craigslist looking for a cheap or free piano. After some weeks, I got an email from a really kind woman, Laurie. She told me she had a baby grand piano, and asked me if that was something i wad looking for/jnterested in. And she said she was willing to give me the piano for free as long as I promised to love it as much as her and her family did.one of my prayers was answered right here. I had always prayed to God for a baby grand piano, and now he responded that prayer. Her husband was planing to sell the piano so they could get at least some bucks from it, but they ended up deciding to bless someone.... Im truly blessed with this beautiful piano. Today I went to pick it up, and this coming Saturday a piano technician is coming to tune it and make some small repairings. Thanks God for using this family in a great way.
